JUNE | FOXGLOVE

Introducing our monthly plant series, where we share a focus on the plants that were chosen to feature in our recent collection LOST TOUCH.

Each month features a plant that is in a full flush of growth during that month.

For June it’s the Foxglove, or in latin ‘Digitalis’ which translates as ‘finger.’

These sculptural and delicate flowers offer electric hues in British hedgerows, moorlands and woodlands during mid summer. With their dense flower head to stem ratio, these ethereal beauties are an excellent source of nectar for pollinators.

We have translated the striking and bold silhouette of the foxglove into an articulated 3D form using our papery silk organza offcuts. Creating multiples of different sized flower heads that cascade down the body in a fluid formation. The flower can be gently attached into the patchworked base garments with a series of loops and ties. It takes our studio team one full day to make one stem of this beguiling textile.
